What began as a partnership in marriage grew into a partnership in business. Joel and Jona have always shared a love for good company, good conversation, and great beer. This passion eventually grew into a dream: creating a place to gather.

Joel Fitzpatrick
Beer Scientist
A “girl dad” of three, Joel has always been passionate about many things in life: his family, great beer, and a wide range of hobbies. While building his career in pharmacy, he spent his free time exploring interests like foraging, winemaking, and home brewing. Of all his hobbies, brewing became a constant. After years of brewing beer in a small basement closet, Joel finally followed his family’s advice and pursued his passion. In 2019, Katahdin Brew Works was born.
Jona Fitzpatrick

At the heart of Katahdin Brew Works is Jona, a devoted wife, mother of three, and one of the driving forces behind the brewery’s story. Known for her warm personality and ability to connect with just about anyone, Jona helps create the welcoming atmosphere that makes KBW feel like a place to gather. When she’s not spending time with family, you’ll likely find her with a good book, trying a new recipe, or enjoying a great IPA.
Matt Heath
Beer Scientist
He may not be related by blood, but Matt is family. A longtime member of the KBW crew, he’s been involved in just about every aspect of the brewery, from cleaning kegs to brewing beer with Joel. When he’s not at the brewery, there’s a good chance you’ll find him working at the local hardware store. A true jack-of-all-trades, Matt always seems to have a solution, a story, or a joke ready at just the right time. He loves good beer, traveling, and spending time with his two sons. More than anything, though, he’s the kind of friend you can count on, someone whose loyalty and willingness to lend a hand have made him an irreplaceable part of the KBW family.
